Infertility

1st IVF - start lupron tomorrow

My DH & I decided to start IVF shortly after I quit my job (at end of January) since I wasn't getting AF while working.  & RE thought that after he triggered me to start (Feb 15th)  that IVF was best to go forward with instead of wait another month or so.  So I start taking Lupron tomorrow night (Sunday 13th).  I'm excited about it, but also nervous.  Luckily enough I have a great DH that will give my shots to me.  I only did 1 IUI with shots, but IVF is going to be 3 a day for a while that won't be fun - but gotta think positive for we know what we want the end result to be.

Good luck to all you that are going through treatment this month.

  • Starting a new treatment cycle is exciting and nerve wrecking, but a BFP will be worth everything we go through.  The shots are very easy, it's more mental then anything.  I was also on the Long Lupron protocol and once stim meds started I also had to give myself 3 shots a day.  You get use to it.

    GL to you!

Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  • The shots are really nothing to worry about. They are all subcutaneous (except for one or two "specilaty" shots - lol), which means they are all done in the fatty tissue. I was nervous too, at first way back when : ) -  and then my DH had to travel and I ended up giving myself injections. GL!

You should out some info in your siggy like diagnosis (Dx) and history : )

I agree, after about the 4th day you will be a pro with the shots, even the PIO shots werent bad.

It made my husband feel more part of the process and that made me feel good...

I am AMA and all tests on H came back normal
3 failed IVF with OE and 2 failed frozen DE cycles
Last fresh hail mary DE cycle starting Feb 2013
    PAIF/SAIF always welcome
  • Good luck on you IVF!!!!  The shots aren't that bad.  I did all mine myself, except for the trigger shot.  I just can't seem to stick myself with such a large needle.  I did 4 shots a day, so by the time I was done it was hard to find a spot that wasn't bruised or very sore.
