Deliver at Grant?

edited July 2021 in Ohio Babies
I was just wondering if anyone has had their LO at Grant? I see a lot about Riverside. My OB only goes to Grant- they are literally 1/2 a block away, so it makes sense- so I was just wondering how people's experiences were there.

Re: Deliver at Grant?

  • I had my baby at Grant and I loved it. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The rooms are private. Bracelets are put on you and the baby to make sure that no one can walk off with your little one and they check it every time. (you also get an extra bracelet to share with family so they can go to the nursery)

The Grant maternity wing is only about 2 years old at the most I think so everything is still relatively new compared to the other hospitals.

  • I had my LO at Grant. I was in labor for 24 hrs. and had excellent labor nurses. The mother and child floor is really nice and all the rooms are private. DH and I were pretty adamant about keeping LO in the room with us so they always made sure to bring her back after any testing. There was a really nice Lactation consultant named Kathy (I think, names were a little bit of a blur) she really helped me with nursing. Even though my birth experience didn't go according to plan, I would definitely choose Grant again.

  • I was just at L&D at Grant yesterday (working there for the whole day). The new L&D has nothing to envy Dublin Methodist! Nurse Nicole was great, Dr. Mane the resident as well as attending Dr. Vietta I thought were a bit snobby, yet again what resident/attending doesn't have that "holier than thou" attitude? IMO. I was a little disappointed to see that the pt was never encouraged to walk, use the ball or rocking chair, she was strapped to the bed the whole day I was there, but I think that all depends on how much of a self advocate you are and not necessarily on the staff...so recap, Grant looks great, nurses great, you make your own experience!
  • I'm also going to be delivering at Grant.  We live nearby too -- in German Village -- it'll definitely make it easy in that aspect!  :)

  • I delivered my daughter at Grant on Feb 6.  All of the staff were very kind, and I will definitely go back there if and when we have baby #2!  The room was private, and very quiet. We were allowed to have several visitors.  My husband and the baby stayed in the room with me the entire time, they only took her away when necessary to do the hearing test and the Hep B shot.  I also thought the discharge class was extremely helpful!  I did have an over-zealous student nurse both days that I was there, but I found the care was very good and I felt very safe and comfortable.  The only thing I could complain about was that they didn't actually "make" me get up and walk around at all, only said that they wanted me up walking at least 3x - never actually followed up to make sure that I did indeed do it.  I could have sat in bed all day long and the nursing staff wouldn't have known or seemingly cared.  I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a person to take charge of their own care, but if someone had a c/s or difficult delivery I could see them being reluctant to get up and walk around.
