Hi all! I'm 36 ttc #3. I had my first two from a previous relationship and have been married to my husband for a 1 1/2. We never considered having children because he was told when he was 15 that he would never be able to father children due to an accident and at 42 he never has. However, we decided a few months ago to seek out help for infertility and decided we would do most whatever it took to have a baby. After getting his SA, my husband was told that although his count was low his motility was good and everything looked pretty good and that we could possible concieve naturally and maybe we just havent hit the right time. So I guess my question is are we too old and are we kidding ourselves that this could happen??

Re: New and concerned
The doctor has better info about your chances than internet strangers, but it certainly isn't out of the realm of possibility. Best of luck to you! If that is your doctor's advice, go for it and don't listen to the naysayers!
However, if you feel your doctor isn't taking your wants seriously, set up an appointment to discuss treatment or further testing options.
(edited because my response sounded mean and I didn't intend it to be mean)

Welcome. I certainly hope you aren't too old; we are the same age and I'm trying to conceive my first. Without knowing yours or H's full medical history, the fact that you have had two healthy births before I would say your chances are very good.
And when did 36 become old? I don't feel old. When did this happen?!??!

I'm 38 and after having several tests done and everything coming back normal, our RE told us we have great chances of conceiving.
You have a lot more testing to do for you before your Dr. can decide if it is an option for you or not.
Hi! I'm an 'old' poster who mostly lurks now but I wanted to post.
I started TTC when I was 35 and it took exactly 3 years to get to the point I am now (pregnant). Not that it will take that long for you but my main bit of advice would be to be aggressive. If you start TTC now and in six months nothing has happened seek help by going to an Reproductive Endrocologist.
I didn't seek help soon enough with an RE, IMO. My OB started me on clomid and finally after two years, and 1 miscarriage later, I went to an RE and within 10months I was pregnant (not 10 months of straight trying, I had to take a break due to another miscarriage and another very minor issue not related to TTC). RE's are better equipped for fertility issues.
Saying that, you could very well get pregnant right away which is not unheard of in women our age.
Good luck. This board is very helpful and supportive.
