Sleep wear?

We are finally breaking the sleep suit, so if you don't swaddle, what do you do to keep your LO warm at night?  He moves around too much to expect a blanket to stay on...

- Fleece PJs?

- Cotton PJs + Sleep sack?

- This weirdness (sorry it's not clicky)?

Re: Sleep wear?

  • When they were smaller we did Halo Sleepsacks + PJs

Now it just depends on the weather and we'll switch up the type of PJ (fleece/cotton/long sleeve/short sleeve) and sometimes they'll use blankets.

No little one, yet, but I totally laughed when I first saw that Sleep Sack walker thing when I was working on my registries! :-)

  • During the Fall & Winter it's been fleece or cotton tops n bottoms with socks (easier night and am changes) or footed pj's (just plain adorable). We only started using a blanket a few months ago. It stays on at nap, but is pretty pointless at night (he moves around way too much). NOTE: We only swaddled to 4 mos and never got around to sleepsacks.
  • We do pjs and a sleepsack.
  • Once we couldn't swaddle anymore, I think he had sleep sacs.  But definitely footy jams, which he still wears til this day cuz they are so stinkin' cute.  ;)  Fleecy ones until it gets warm out, then cotton ones.  I think we didn't use a blanket til he was about a year or so...which seemed kind of long, but I was paranoid.

  • Cooper wears mostly just cotton jammies. Long sleeves with feet. Or socks if no feet. He stays warm enough apparently.

  • My sister uses those weird footed sacks on her almost 18mo twins haha Smile They like them =)

I am a fan of the Halo breathable/moisture wicking onsies- when we cant swaddle her anymore I'll use that, or cotton jammies and a sleepsack.

  • We went from swaddle, to sleep sack to the 2T big kids sleep sack. My kids love them, I didn't want to buy the weird ones at first with feet but they ask for them, and my twins are 2! Sometimes we mix it up depending on the weather. They also sleep with their stuffed animals and a blanket lovey.
  • On the nights that I don't swaddle him, we use a sleep sack. Though R is still usually in a onesie, footed pj's, and is swaddled in a blanket.

  • Footed jammies and sleep sack.  Or cotton footed jammies with sleep sack.  When it warm out cotton jammies.  I have seen the sleep sacks with feet but have not bought one yet.  LO can walk around the crib with not much trouble.

  • Thanks, ladies.  He's already in 18 month size clothes, and starting to crawl, so I didn't know if jammies or footed sleep sacks would save me some trouble.  It sounds like tried and true sleep sacks are the way to go.

  • Late to the party, but we do cotton jammies (hanna annderson) w/ socks.  In the winter she gets a fleece footed jammie (carters) over that.  We stopped swaddling really early (3 weeks) and did sleep sack for a couple months, but double layers is what works for us.

Now how to get her to take a blanket? - she wants nothing to do with it or wants to play with it.

  • Both my girls wear fleece PJ's (Carters and Children's Place are my favs) with onesies underneath.  I'd ditch the onesie for Jillian but she usually takes off her sleeper when she goes to bed at night.

  • A blanket is still pointless here as Max is all over the crib. For winter we've been doing two pairs of jammies, regular socks, wool socks, and a sleep sack. Yes, we keep our house cold at night. :)

  • Depends on the weather, but I normally, during the winter, pair fleece and cotton.  So, fleece pjs and a cotton sleep sack, or cotton jammies and a fleece sleep sack.

In the summer, normally just cotton jammies.  During the heat waves, just a onesie. :)

  • We use fleece jammies except in the summer.  If you want fleece jammies, buy them NOW!  All of the spring clothes are out and the fleece jammies are on clearance, so buy up as many as you can.  Seriously, go to the store today, because you might not be able to find them in another week.

  • we HAVE the weirdness...  and they loved them last year and even this fall when i found and dug them out.   They are actually a great way to keep kids warm until they are old enought to use blankets.  My kids have been in twin beds since the fall...

  • We have the weird sleep sacks too and love them!  We call them her "Hammer Pants."  We usually do a cotton onesie, fleece footed pjs, and then the sleepsack.  In the summer we do lighter layers.

Wow...so are we, that is crazy!
  • Hmmm.... now I'm torn on buying the weirdness vs. reg. sleep sacks again....

Stella, he's 22 lbs...  The tops are a little loose (except PJs), but we need the siz e to fit over his giant head and cloth diaper.  :)  How much does your LO weigh?

  • Only cotton PJs and perhaps a onesie if it is cold. She sweats in fleece jammies so those don't go over well. We sometimes use a sleep sack, but she also likes a blanket to rub on her cheek so that covers at least her side when she moves around. I have come in a couple times and found it pulled over her head, but she seemed fine - scared me, though!
