Spitting up during tummy time....

I've tried waiting 30mins to 1hour after feeding DD to put her on tummy time, but she still spits up... I don't understand... am i doing something wrong? Should I be waiting longer between feeding and tummy time? She's BF and eats every 1 1/2 to 2 hours during the day.

or is this normal? It's not alot of spit up, but enough.

Thanks Ladies :)

Re: Spitting up during tummy time....

  • Grace does the same thing, her pedi said it's normal as long as I wait a while after I feed her. Just put a burp cloth under her.

  • We have the same issue. I have started doing tummy time after she wakes up, before she eats. Is that an option, or does your DD wake up screaming for food?

This is us too. We usually have about 20 minutes or so before he starts crying for a bottle.

  • that's a GREAT idea! Abby wakes up in a great mood, I always nurse her right after I change her bum. But I will try to change her bum and see if she will be up for tummy time!

    Thanks so much :)

  • Yep, we do DS's tummy time first thing in the morning too to minimize the spit up.  It really works!

  • We've had that problem, but it's gotten better over the last couple of weeks. It hardly happens anymore, so I think it's an age thing.
