Newbies come on in

OK, I'm still technically a newbie but here's some helpful tips
and welcome to the board : )

Your siggy is what tells your story to everyone else on the board. Information like your age, your diagnosis, your history etc. is really important. Also, you should be under the care of a physician / RE / OBGYN and you should include tests and the results etc. in your siggy as well. This information is helpful whenever you are asking the women on these boards for advice or guidance. Try to be specific when creating your siggy.

Also, the boards are designed to help everyone. That means you can come on here to ask for advice and support but it's also expected that you offer support and advice...even if it's just a small gesture like "sorry to hear you had a bad day" or "Congrats!" -  Otherwise you are just a parasite and that's not well-received for obvious reasons. So be a giver too : )

To edit your siggy:

  • my account
  • edit profile
  • edit my avatar & sig (above your pic)
  • my forums signature - scroll down
To add a picture to your siggy:

Go to a website like tinypics.com (there are more...just google) and follow the instructions to upload a picture, edit the picture (make it smaller/bigger) and then copy the forum code into your siggy.

"PAIF/SAIF always welcome" in your siggy

This tells women who have moved over to Pregnant after IF or Success after IF that they are welcome to respond to your posts. Otherwise they may not.

Here is a link to the Bump Unoffical Glossay:

<a href="https://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/13543381.aspx">Bump Unofficial Glossary</a>

Can't make it clicky sorry - it's in my siggy, though.

There is also a glossary located on the left-hand margin, bottom of the page called Bump Board Glossary

Good luck with your journey.  Hope this info helps!

I think Edwina and missred had a better version of these guidelines - sorry to step on toes girls I just thought I'd help some newbies : )

    PAIF/SAIF always welcome
  • This is very nice of  you.

Also, the official bump FAQ is here and it tells you how to add hyperlink text to your signature.

If you google "TTCAL blog" you will find a blog with a lot of information. I hope I don't step on any ttcal toes for suggesting this site.

When you're editing your signature, the new site requires that you code the entire block.

<p>Your text here.</p> Creates a new paragraph which has a line space above it. Tutorial.

<br> Inserts a line break. You could put two in a row for the equivalent of a paragraph break. Tutorial.

Change the size of an image by adding width="xx" OR height="xx" adding xx number in pixels. You can force your image into a defined dimension by adding width and height, but if it's not the same proportion to the original it will skew the image. Don't make the xx value bigger than the original size or it will look bad.

If the search function doesn't work, you can try to google the term; add "site:community.thebump.com"  to search all the forums.

    Good luck!

  • Points, and those little white boxes under your screen name that fill up blue have no apparent significance. They're some kind of rating system, but what that means to other posters is lost on me.
