what are your 8-9 mo olds eating?

I think Teagan is bored with the same old, same old.  I thought I'd ask what your little ones are eating to see if he's missing out on anything good ;)

  • Anything and everything? he he he..seriously he likes everything and I'm amazed because DD is super picky.

I've started to let him try whatever we're eating. Non-pureed vegtables, chicken, mashed potatos, meatloaf, speghetti. His favorite snacks are Cheerios. He also loves those Mum snacks and gerber has these fruit things kinda like fruit roll-ups.

  • James isn't super picky but he can be tempermental with food and will spit it back at us if he isn't in the mood for it.  He really still likes B milk and tolerates real food some times.  I am trying to make him eat real food now too though and begin the weaning process.

He is eating things with texture in addition to purees.  He LURVES cheerios (aka baby crack) and yo baby yogurt but he isn't so fond of those freeze dried fruit things quite yet (I love em though!).  I also give him a hunk of crusty bread or pizza crust (when we have pizza) that he chews on and mostly spits back out but he likes the feeling on his teeth and gums.  I also give him cooked veggies like sweet potatoes, carrots that he can pick up and smoosh in his fingers.  Lastly, we experiment with our table food.  We gave him salmon the other night and he gobbled it up, and we also give him bits of chix and turkey.

I just do a lot of experimenting.  sometimes it is fun, other times it is a real PIA, but he seems to be liking food more and more.

  • thanks for the replies.....you guys are way ahead of us, we're still doing pureed foods and i just started giving him little cut up pieces of food (bananas, cheese, etc.)
  • Along the same lines... do you guys still wait 4 days to introduce new foods?  Seems like that get's harder with table foods because they have more ingredients in them, I think that's where I get confused.

We're still on pureed foods.  I've been giving Megan those baby mum mum for 2 weeks now and she likes to play with them but hasn't put them in her mouth yet.  She's kinda got a pincher grip but not 100% so maybe that's why.  I've been breaking it into little pieces, is that what everyone else does too?

As far as purees we've done the following:

Fruits: Bananas, avocados, peaches, pears, plums, apples,

Veggies: zucchini, summer squash, sweet potatoes, eggplant, peas, green beans, pumpkin, butternut squash

    Meat: Chicken and Beef

Hmmm that's a lot less variety than I had thought!  I guess I need to change it up more too.
