i voted booster since that's what we use now, but when we started out, we used a huge graco high chair... one of those that reclined and had the huge trays. and it worked okay, but honestly ds just never fit right in it, he was always hunched over in it, like it wouldn't sit forward enough ... so i never really liked it.
we used the bumbo a lot when we'd feed ds, or one of us would hold him. for us that was much easier. now he sits in a booster style one, and he's just about outgrown the straps for it too, so i guess he'll be sitting in it as just a booster from now on... we'll see how that goes lol!

and I LOVE it. I like that it has a tray so it doesn't always have to be pushed up under a table for my child to eat yet, I can take the tray off and it slides under our table too.
We have a standard FP ocean wonders high chair that Wesley uses at home, but we also have a booster with tray that straps to a regular chair that we use when we go to my MIL's, church, etc...

I have this one as well. If I had the choice between the Svan and Stokke I would pick Stokke. There are several reasons behind this, mostly personal hatred for the Svan distributor. Stokke is a really great brand. I do like my Svan chair though, and the built-to-grow is really convenient.
We had the standard Chicco brand high chair (big & plastic). I loved it and we used it until just a few months ago (J still wanted to use it, but I was ready to put it away and encourage some better table manners).
If space is not an issue, I'd go with a free standing high chair. I just never really liked the strap-in boosters.
...a FREE one. My SIL gave us her FP Jungle theme free-standing standard highchair. We tried it yesterday and it worked just fine. Maybe not as "fancy" as I had envisioned, but it works and we can't beat the price!
We just purchased a great high chair from BRU. It's Fisher Price and converts from a swing in to a high chair - wonderful space saver! It's brown/green, so gender neutral. If I knew how to upload pics I would "show'n'tell"!
