I've never gotten a massage before in my life and on Monday I have a prenatal massage scheduled that was bought for me by my future SIL. I have no idea what to expect. I heard that you can lay on your stomach because they have a special table or something? Can any one give me a run down of what to expect at this?

Re: What should I expect? Massage
If you tell them it's your first massage, they'll probably explain it to you, but otherwise... the masseuse will lead you into a room with a table covered with sheets and pillows, and ask you to undress "to your comfort level". Most people undress all the way. Bras would definitely get in the way of a massage, and they aren't going to expose anything that would otherwise be covered by panties anyhow (they won't go anywhere near your breasts or hoo-hah). Once you've undressed, you get under the sheet, and if they have pregnancy pillows, you lay face-down. Otherwise you lay on your side. When they masseuse comes back in, she'll probably explain what she's going to do, and then while you lay there with your eyes closed zoning out, she'll partially uncover one body part at a time (just your back, just your right leg, just your left leg, etc) and massage it. I usually don't say much, though you can let them know if they're pressing too hard, or if you've got an old injury or sensitive spot they need to be careful about (I broke a toe that never fully healed, and I don't want them pulling on it). You can also tell them if you don't like scented oils, music, the room temperature, etc. They want you to be comfortable.
Enjoy! I just started getting massages with this pregnancy, and I can't wait for my next.
Enjoy! I get a lot of body work. The only previous advice I'll reiterate is to let the therapist know it's your first massage ever. It will help her understand you better, and she can help you relax and feel more comfortable. (It seems women are far more likely to do prenatal work, but if that's something you're nervous about, call and confirm the therapist is female.)
