I've seen a similar version of this name and they pronounced it Air-a-din. I think that she is going to spend her life having to pronounce her name for people.

I think that she is going to spend her life having to pronounce her name for people.
I disagree with this - it's a common name in Greek mythology, so everyone who went through a mythology unit in English class should know it. I really like it!

I don't understand this logic - the people you know are pronouncing it wrong, which is probably why they have to pronounce it for the rest of the literate world who pronounces it the correct way, exactly the way it looks - Ari-ad-ne
i'm a teacher, and honestly I would have no idea how to pronounce this. I feel like I'm probably not alone in this. Sorry! (my greek mythology background obviously isnt very strong...)
I'd like it better if it didn't automatically make me think of Inception, and only Inception (which, while a good movie, has a kind of obsessive following).
I know someone with a daughter named that but they pronounce it ah-ri-od-nay (something like that). I do love the name only the way they pronounce it. Good luck!
Re: Ariadne
OMG! I was thinking the exact same thing! Sorry...
Unfortunately this was my first thought. I want to love the name because of the Greek Mythology angle and the story, but I just can't.

This! That is all I can see and I hate spiders!

The character in Inception pronounced it Ari-ad-nee
That's the only time I've ever heard it before. Sorry, not a fan. Sounds like a WoW character or something, IMHO.

I've only heard this as ar-ee-AD-nee, or air-ee-AD-nee. I've liked it for a number of years!
I know a couple girls named Ariadna, which I also like.
Okay, maybe pronunciation WILL be a problem.
