So I am going to take the plunge on Monday and attempt to train Lilly. How many pairs of underwear would you recommend buying? I already have 6 pairs of the Gerber training pants.
I bought like 6 packs of underwear. Every child is different, but my ds went though like 8 pairs on day 1 of the training. I would buy enough for like 25 pairs a day. That's totally too much probably, but it's better to have more than not enough.

uh-oh! I only have about 8 pairs. I'd better get some more!
DD didn't like the thicker "trainer" underwear, so we went straight to regular undies that should fit her for a while. I bought 14 pairs and that seemed to be plenty. Good luck with the potty training!
I probably had 9 pairs of Gerber training underwear, a pack of walmart brand ones and a pack of elmo panties. She PT'd at 22mo, I just last month packed the gerber trainers away because they seemed too snug. The other panties still fit fine. Considering she's gone from 2T to 4T in that time, it's worth it to buy more.
FWIW, DD had 10 accidents the first day, but only 2/day after that and after 2 weeks was accident free (while awake). But after day 1 I just left her naked. Of course we had tile floors and she was already pooping on the potty, so it wasn't TOO messy. But having pee going down her leg really seemed to make it click for DD.
I guess we are in the minority. DD was totally ready to train by the time we switched to regular underwear so she only has ten pairs and we have never gone through more than three pairs in a day. If you think Lilly is ready then you probably don't need a ton. DD also hated the training undies so we tried them the first day and then went to regular underwear.
I haven't started potty training yet, but the 3 day method lady recommended 20-30 pairs. She recommended using different sizes for the beginning of potty training and putting the larger sized ones away until they grow into them once they are potty trained.
Do you mind updating and letting me know how it goes? DD has been waking up dry and I think I might start potty training her as soon as everyone recovers from being sick.

yeah absolutely! I think she has been ready for a while but I kind of put it off with having a new baby around.

i think we have 2 packs- so maybe 10 or 12.
For us- the first day of PTing was the worst and she had 4 accidents. After that it got easier each following day.

Wow! I think the most we ever used in one day were like 4 or 5.
We never had anything like 10+ accidents on one day. Not even close.
We bought 10 pairs total. I think I've thrown 3 out (waaaay too messy to even bother trying to wash, lol!)
