Tell me about ET & Bed Rest

My ET is Monday morning....are there any Do's & Don'ts I should know?

As far as bed rest goes.....basically I am only to get up to use the bathroom right?

Oh and do you think after the ET on Monday and Tuesday is enough bed rest?

Re: Tell me about ET & Bed Rest

  • My Dr said just to lay low for 24 hours. I could go to the bathroom, go to the kitchen to get something to eat and shower. I did drive myself to acupuncture the next afternoon a few hours before the 24 hours was up. I also took off work and was pretty lazy the next day too. Good luck with your transfer Bella!

  • Neither of my clinics require bedrest...they just want me to "take it easy".  So i'd figure ur OK to be up a little, even on bedrest.

You have to eat and pee!  I have to take off work for a few days, bc i have a pretty physical job.  So "taking it easy" wouldn't be an option at work for me.

  • My RE had me on strict 24 hour bedrest...only allowed up to go to the bathroom. After that time period I was just told to take it easy for the next couple of days.

I agree with V Wink I've been to 3 clinics and no one ever recommended bed rest....I always pee a lot after so I am up and down quite a bit! Embarrassed

  • I did the 24 hr in bed / couch routine and then went to a Bon Jovi concert the next evening. I still took it easy that evening but I felt really guilty. GL with the transfer! Sending you lots of T&P's

  • Thanks ladies!  Oh and bed rest was not rec by my RE, but I'm OOP for this IVF cycle...I am more doing it for my peace of mind.  I don't want to look back and think about those coulda, shoulda, woulda situations.  KWIM?

  • My clinic says to take it easy for the rest of the day after transfer and then I can go back to work the next (I have an office job).  This time, like you, though I may take some extra time off afterwards for piece of mind!

    Good luck Bella!

  • I did three days of strict bedrest, since I wanted to give it my all, but obviously it hasn't worked. My RE recommends it just the day of transfer, and then taking it easy for a couple of days.

I understand the coulda, woulda, shoulda.  My RE never told me I had to do bedrest but I did each time for peace of mind.

    Good luck Monday!!
