Baby Names

Has anyone used (or planning to use) Caroline?

It's my DH's grandmother's name and we've always loved it. But it's be come sooooooooo popular around here. DD#1 has a m/n in honor of my maternal grandmother and I thought it would be nice if LO#2 (if it's a girl) has a m/n in honor of DH's maternal grandmother.

No real question here ... just wondering if it's as popular here as it is in our area.

It's our #1 girl name, but it isn't popular at all where I live. I don't know a single Caroline.

  • I love the name! It was on my list for a future #3 (if a girl) but my SIL & BIL used it. I have not met another one around here yet.
  • Our neighbor's baby daughter is Caroline, but I don't think I've met another one yet. I think it's adorable.

  • My pregnant friend is using it if LO is a girl. Her DD is named Josephine. I like Caroline a lot. She said her nn would be Cara and not Carol.
  • We're strongly considering it. I don't know any Caroline's around me though.

  • Our daughter is either going to be Caroline or Elizabeth. I love the name! I don't know any other Caroline's but see it on this board frequently as a top choice.

  • My name is Caroline, but in my area I have not come across any younger girls with the name. Just as an fyi - I am almost always called Carolyn by people who are just meeting me. It has gone on my whole life, and I usually let it slide, especially if it is someone who I will not encounter again. But apparently Carolyn is more common and people assume that Caroline is pronounced the same as Carolyn. Not sure if all Caroline's have had this experience, but that is what always happens to me. Dont get me wrong - I love my name, just wish people could make the distinction.

  • It is becoming pretty popular around here as well.
  • I LOVE this name!  Caroline is one of my favorites.  But does seem to be on the rise in my area.  I've known quite a few people who have named their babies Caroline in the past couple of years.
