Pain, pain...go away....you are not welcomed here!!!

Re: Severe Hip Pain???

  • I did - I ended up having to see a manual physical therapist twice a week so that I could walk.  Going to her would let me walk for the next three days, then I'd have to get retreated.  Good thing, after I delivered, it was completely gone and I'm back to normal - but from about week 23 - 39, I couldn't lift my feet to walk because of the pain and often times, DH would have to carry me upstairs at night.  Towards the end, I was on prescription pain meds.

My diagnosis was a loose SI joint, a tilted sacrum and mobile L3 and L4 in my back.  The treatment was a LOT more than what a chiropractor could do, so I went to the manual therapist (different from a PT, more specialized).  She singlehandedly got me through my pregnancy.  She worked on strengthening my pelvic floor and lower back, did quite a bit of massage and also did dry needling (similar to acupuncture).  I would definitely recommend looking into it - my insurance covered it as well because it was physical therapy.  I swear, the only reason I was able to walk was because of her and what she did.

My therapist is Kelli Chandler, PhD at Select Physical Therapy in Grapevine.  She's moving in a few weeks, but Laurel is another manual therapist there and she's had children, so she is familiar with maternal patients and the way our bodies shift during pregnancy.  Jen is also there and is good, but I don't have as much experience with her.  I would never go anywhere else!

  • Oh - to add, there's also Dr. Michael Lucido in Dallas who is one of the best manual therapists in the state... he's at Forest Lane and 75.  I started out with him, but because I live closer to Grapevine, I switched to Kelli who did her residency with him

  • keep in mind that Icy-Hot contains acetaminophen, so don't take it and Tylenol. HTH!
