Parenting after a Loss

Hmm should I or shouldn't I?

Still battling this sinus infection. I've been taking Benedryl at night per my doc, but tonight I'm home alone with Jax. You think it makes me too drowsy to wake up if he stirs? I can't tell because I've been tired already when I've taken it. But I sleep like a log when I'm on it!

  • I would still wake up, but I'm not a super heavy sleeper anyway.  Only you know how it affects you!  Maybe turn the monitor up louder?   I hope you feel better soon!

  • What about having him in a pack n play next to your bed? That is probably what I would do.

I think it just depends on how the medication usually affects you.

Does he always wake up during the night? If so, then I would definitely want to be close to him or at least (as pp mentioned) have the monitor turned up.

  • He still sleeps in our room, I've only been taking one and I think I'll be ok. I think I'm just a little more worried because now he's all snotty too. No idea how he got sick, hope it's just a little bit of allergies!

  • What does he say about robitussin? My mom had chronic sinus infections when I was a kid, and the only thing that kept her going was guaifenesin (the main ingredient in robitussin). I can't handle benadryl, I sleep for about 15-20 hours straight and it's almost impossible for me to wake up. Kinda scary for me.
  • Alright final decision is I'm not taking it. Yes he's right next to me in his own crib, but Im breathing pretty well especially for at night when it's usually at it's worst. I have sleep apnea so I sleep with a mask that's hooked to a machine. It has a humidifier that Ive added Vicks humidifier liquid to so that's keeping me cleared out. I've sucked out his nostrils given him a little Tylenol (just in case) and put vicks baby rub on his chest. I think we're set for the night and he's already asleep. Wish me luck that we both get some good sleep, we need it!
