Finger Foods

Kolby is at this stage where he wants to feed himself.  No I am not giving him a spoon and a bowl of sweet potato mush for him to eat.  It isn't happening!!! I can do messes, but I am not ready for that one yet.

What finger foods can I do?  I have green beans, carrots, puffs, yogurt bites, bannanas, peaches, and a few others.  He is 8 months and he likes a lot of different foods.  Just need to find a few things to add to his menu.

TIA!

Re: Finger Foods

  • Whatever foods he likes in purees, try in finger food form. For the sweet potato, you just bake it and cut it into small pieces.

Some ideas: avocado, tofu, cheerios, baby mum mums, mango, pinto/kidney/black beans, broccoli florets, shredded cheese, pasta, rice.

  • We do most of the stuff from the pp, but we also do blue berry pancakes, cheese cubes (very tiny), shredded grilled or baked chicken, and meatballs. I cut the everything very small, including the blue berries in the pancakes.

DS is much happier if he is feeding himself.

  • Avocado is still one of my sons favorite foods!  Dice it up and sprikle some shredded cheese on it.
  • I get lots of ideas here. https://baby-led-solids.blogspot.com/ This Mom never did purees, started finger foods at 6 months. You'll be surprised what your baby can eat at 8 months, teeth or no teeth.
