teeth & height

so I don't know if this is just common knowledge and i was totally out of the loop, but at our last pedi visit our pedi said that Miss A was a bit "behind" with her teeth coming in b/c she only had 5 teeth at 15 months (her 1st tooth didn't come in until she was almost 10 months). she then went on to say, however, that i shouldn't worry about that b/c tooth eruption tends to correlate well with when they hit puberty... so she'll be a late bloomer but that also means her growth plates will close later and she'll get to be a little bit taller than she would otherwise be.

i never knew there was a correlation between teeth and puberty and height.... who knew?

Heh, well that might explain why my first tooth came in at 6mo when I was a baby and MH's came in at 1yr. B's first one has just started cutting this week and he turns 10mo by next week. That's "perfect" then because MH and I were hoping that B won't be as tall as MH because at his height, it starts becoming an inconvenience (always hitting head on random low hanging things or ceilings on staircases, super hard to find pants long enough for him, etc) but he'll prolly be fairly tall anyway...

HA. Well, I guess Kaya will be short like me because she got her first tooth at 6.5 months and had 8 by 11 months.

well, it doesn't mean they'll be shorter/taller compared to other kids, just shorter/taller compared to themselves, if that makes sense. I think Miss A will still be fairly short like me but she'll at least be a little bit taller than she otherwise would have been

LOL my kids are going to be like half their genetic height...Dash just cut #7 (Will's still working on his) and I can see #8 on both of them. Indifferent

Ah. Well, so if she had a chance to be 5'2" she'll only be 5'1" now. Hahaha. Hopefully she'll get a little height from B's side since she got pretty much everything else from me!

yeah I didn't know how to explain it but I think Lisa described it well as "genetic height" or genetic potential for height
