Synagis Vaccine

My health insurance company approved Kayden's March synagis vaccine. YAY! DD first vaccine was given in the NICU so I'm not sure what happened before or after. I imagine that she will be a little sore and cranky.

How was your DD/DS after getting this vaccine? Did you do anything before hand or after? TIA

Re: Synagis Vaccine

  • my son has been getting the shot since nov and thankfully he's handled it pretty well. right when he gets the shot he does cry - A LOT. my H holds the baby with nurse and has the paci ready. once the shot is over i come in to hold and soothe and then he's totally fine. me, however i need a tequila shot.

it's very quick and he doesnt cry for long. also no tylenol required or anything. at least that's been the case for us.

  • I missed DD getting her in the NICU which I have to admit, I was fine with. We go next week for the 2nd one and I am not looking forward to it. I just hate hearing their little pain cries.

I think since it is more of an immune booster and not actually a vaccine, it may be less harsh for them? I could just be making that up but it seems less intrusive to their systems. A shot is a shot though and they are certainly a bit painful no matter what is in it!

  • Both my boys handled it well. They cried when they actually got the shot but were soothed easily. I didn't notice any other effects.

  • Andrew's had 4 so far, and never had any problems afterwards.

Yeah, he screams like he$$ when they give the shot, but he does the same thing with his vaccinations.  I hate it, but know he needs it.

  • Thanks all! She did whimper right after the shot, but seems to be okay now. I tried to give her the paci, but she didn't take it. That wasn't so bad. I am terrible with needles, so I start to panic at the thought.

    Thanks again!

  • Robbie cried for the injection at the stick, but calmed down right away (less than a minute) and did not act any differently after that.

No, we didn't do anything differently.

  • It seems like this shot is a little more painful and DD is usually worn out afterwards and sleeps on the way home. Other than that she seems okay the rest of the day, maybe a little extra sleepy/fussy, but not as bad as vaccines.

  • My LOs have had a few of these plus some vax shots already with no s/e at all. They both cry for 30 seconds after the poke but that's it. GL!

  • We're having our 5th shot today.  DD screams but I have a bottle ready and that helps soothe her.  GL!
