Just wondering if anyone on this board was from Georgia. I'm still waiting on DH to decide that we can start the adoption process so I'm curious to see what agencies in Ga are reputable and if anyone adopted thru the state and how that went.
I'm in Georgia, but we didn't adopt through Georgia. We used Adoption Informations Services in Lawrenceville, GA which is a facilitator who led us to our options in "safe" states. We didn't like the 10 day waiting period in Georgia. We adopted from a state that as soon as the mom signed, it was irrevocable.

We moved away from Atlanta almost 2 years ago -- we're in Alabama now.
We have a very good friend who works for the State through Cobb County -- I don't know what county you're in -- she has been a wealth of knowledge for us. She highly recommends adopting through DFACS!
Alicia, I was a birth mom in GA. I totally recommend Bethany Christian Services. They are VERY reputable and internationally. I can tell you the laws as far as on the birth mom side. The birth parents have 10 days from signing over parental rights to recind their decision. If that 10th day falls on a weekend or holiday, it falls to the next business day. If they do not recind, they do not have the power later to test the placement. Bethany also requires that the adopting parents be willing to send regular updates with pictures through the child's 3rd bday and be willing to let the birth parents see the child 3 times before they are 2. The birth parents do not have to take the updates, pictures, or visits, but the adopting family has to be willing to give them.
