As soon as Molly could sit up in her bath chair. Mine are about the same distance apart age wise so probably by now we had started. Molly didn't sit up on her own until she was 10mo but the bath chair helped for that and to keep her steady with the older one in the tube as well. I would always get Maggie out first, towel her off and have her start walking to her room and then I would take Molly out and follow and we would all get ready for bed in Maggie's room (more floor space).
Mine are about the same spacing as yours. I think DS was pretty little, definitely younger than 9 months. Maybe 7? Once he could sit up I put him in there so I guess DD was 28 months or so.

This exactly - we didn't even really wait until DD #2 could sit up on her own, we used the bath chair so DD #1 wouldn't knock her over and drown her. I can't remember when we started, but it sounds like it's time for you guys. Esp. if you have a bath chair.
Wife, Musician, Fed, WW-er, and Mom of three little kids - not necessarily in that order.
DS is mobile and is at that very hard to contain "standing in the bath and trying to climb out" stage, so maybe having his sister there will contain him. We'll try it!
for those of you with opposite gender kids, did they notice the differences?
we had our first joint bath last night! tomas is 4 and audrey is 6 months.?
they had SOOOO much fun!! audrey usually sits and splashes herself (or me, oh joy), but this time she had someone else to splash who giggled and splashed her back. he put bubbles on his and her heads and they were "prince and princess of the bathtub!" just priceless!
audrey still needs to be watched very closely, as she is still mastering sitting and can topple over quickly, so mommy got very wet and clean up was a pain. but so worth it!
oh, we also have a regular sized bathtub and a pretty small bathroom.?

We moved DD2 out of her toddler bath when she was 8 months old. DD1 was only 23 months at the time so we started doing them together. They are now 3 and 4 and still bathe together, but it is getting tight in there!
We bathe them together now, though S is still in a baby tub and K is in the regular tub. We've been doing that for a couple months. As soon as S can sit well on her own (maybe in the next month or so) we will ditch the baby tub. They are 5.5 and 30.5 months.
I think we started when DS was about 8/9 months and DD had just turned 3. We put him in the infant tub with the stopper open so the regular bathwater could flow in, and DD stayed on her side. That didn't last too long because he wanted to stand and crawl around like her, and we were worried about him flipping himself out of the tub. Keeping him sitting wasn't an option...he just wouldn't do it. We have a suction-cup mat that covers most of the bottom and a railing on the side with the wall, so we've always emphasized that he should hold onto that when standing.
Regarding noticing the difference between boys and girls, DD picked up on that right away. She called it his "bagina," so we explained that it has a different name for boys. For several baths after that, she pointed out his "peanuts," and it hasn't been mentioned since.
