question about first ultrasound & twins

How many of you only saw one sac at first ultrasound but then later found out you were having 2 or more?  I'm just curious because we only saw 1 at my first ultrasound this week but I am still convinced that I am having twins...

    This just happened to me today.....two gorgeous h/b - 132 and 142.....my progesterone came back at 8.8 though - I am scared to be happy :(

    at 5w4d, the first ultrasound found 2 sacs but one one hb.  Then two days later I went back for another u/s and they saw 2 hbs.  Why do you think you are having twins?

    Thanks for your stories.  RE and I thought it might be twins because I  had high betas and when I triggered for my IUI I had 2 mature follies. I also just have this intuition/feeling that it is twins that I can't really explain, but obviously that doesn't mean anything.   Of course I am completely thrilled whether it is one or two!  Either way it is a miracle :)

    Saw them both at 6 weeks.

    FWIW - betas are not a reliable indication of multiples.

    My betas were sky high with both pregnancies but actually higher with my singleton.

     But.... you do hear those stories of finding a twin later!

     

    Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
    Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.

    We saw one sac at 5 weeks, then one sac at 6 weeks 2 days, then two sacs and two heartbeats at 8 weeks 1 day! It was wild! A crazy ride that lasted only 2 weeks, but it had nothing to do with the fact that we didn't see the twin for a while.

    My experience was opposite.  Saw 3 sacs at 5 weeks then 2 heartbeats at 6 weeks.

    ps- my HCG was totally average, barely doubling, so you never know- it's not a good predictor.  Oh, and I triggered with 4 follicles.

    At 5 w 4d we saw two sacks.  A week later, 2 heartbeats.  I've heard of a twin "hiding". good luck..
