ARG!!! What a day!! *vent* sort-of NBR

Vent 1:

At my shower a few weeks ago, I received a spa gc and I was debating on using it  before or after Liam comes.  After learning I was having a c/s, I decided to get my hair done with it since I have no idea how long after I'll have to wait until I feel up to going out, and even then, I'll be ebfing (I hope!)  I stopped at the spa yesterday while doing my running around and asked the girl what was available between today and next Wednesday, since I was having a baby Thursday.  She told me she'd put me in for Friday and I left.

I show up at the salon and I'm told my appointment is scheduled for NEXT Friday!!!  Ummm... probably not going to happen, seeing how I'll be recovering from surgery and I'll have a one day old baby!!!  I told the woman that and she said, Ok, well I can get you in at 1:45 (45 minutes after my original appointment time).  I said that was fine, and went grocery shopping while waiting, no big deal.  I just found it irritating!!!  What is the point in me spelling out to them when I'm available if they're not going to listen anyway??  On the plus side, the scalp massage I recieved was to die for and worth every bit of frustration and probably the $50 I paid for the haircut too!!!

Next vent:

Yesterday, after my running around (my mom and I had picked up Starbucks) we were sitting at my kitchen table about to enjoy our coffees and all off a sudden a riDICulously loud sawing noise started.... it literally sounded like the neighbour was drilling through our wall.  It lasted the entire time my mom was here (20 minutes or so) and stopped.  The other neighbour (we live in a townhouse) came over a few minutes later and asked if it was us making all that noise!!  The noise and vibrations were so loud that it was vibrating her plates on her walls!!

Today I'm sitting on my couch waiting for DH to get home from work to show him my new haircut and I can hear the neighbours conversation, just as if they were in the next room.  (We've always complained about the sound between this particular unit and our place, but this was excessive!!).  I texted DH and told him that he needed to go over there as soon as he got home and find out WTF they did yesterday!!  So he does that, comes back in looking royally pissed.  Turns out, they are installing a FISH TANK in the wall and decided it was ok to cut a chunk out of the FRIGGIN SUPPORT BEAM!!!!  I'm so livid!!! I don't even know what to do!! I need to find out if this is a fire wall too!!!

So now DH has to spend half the evening using a 2x6 we bought to do our deck with this summer and help the stupid neighbour repair this support beam!!!  DH wants to help so that we know it's done right.  I think I should report this to someone in case there's ever an issue but I dont even know where to start!!!

I guess I'm glad that they're doing all this crap before Liam comes next week, since there is no way a newborn would be handling that very well!!!  My cats are terrified!!!

K....vent over... Thanks for reading!!!

  • ummm how would they ever even think it was OK to cut a chunk of wall out with out asking anyone first, Iam assuming you live in a town house or condo of some sort? start by contacting the property manager,

  • Yeah, it's a townhouse, but it's freehold.  We don't have a property manager or anyone to call in this case, that's why I'm so concerned.  I'm worried about fire, or just general safety since the support beam was cut too.  If anything did happen, are we going to have an issue with our insurance to get our money back, and the fact that I have kids (LO and my step-son) and my pets to get out if anything happened.  I don't know if calling the non-emergency line for the police would do anything, I mean, technically, it's their house?!

I realize that no one on here will likely be able to give advice and that likely NOTHING will happen but I'm still freaked out and more than a little P.O'd that they would think this was ok!!

  • Indifferent  to your neighbors!!

Do you have a property manager or home owner's association?  If so, send a letter immediately!

  • I would call the non emergency number if I were you and let them know what happened, that way they can decided if they need professionals come in and fix it,

  • I think i would definitely follow up on it - maybe speak to your own insurance company and have them send a registered letter or something to the other owners? Maybe speak to the other owners about making a claim against their insurance? -- Sorry that happened - what a mess!
