Need help with bathtime!

For a couple months now, Fin won't sit down in the bathtub. He doesn't hate getting a bath, but will cry/scream if we try and get him to sit down. He just holds on tight to our arm and will play a little.

Last night DH got in with him and tricked him into sitting, but I don't think he had enough fun to go back to sitting if someone isn't in there with him. Any suggestions on getting him to love the bath again?

    Is he in the regular bathtub alone?  I used the inflatable duck tub with DD and she seemed to like that she wasn't in this huge space, I think she felt safe in a smaller contained tub.  It took us several tries somewhere around 14 months or so to get her in the big tub, she was pretty unsure for a while.

    He is.

    From 3mo to 7mo, he took showers with us as we were on a roadtrip for 3 weeks, then living with IL's, etc.

    When we moved into our house, we transitioned him into the tub by using a smaller plastic bathtub that went in the regular tub. He hated it! It took two of us to give him a bath because he screamed the whole time.

    We bought a bath mat in the late fall and put him in the big tub, and he was much happier. Played like crazy. Then maybe 2 months later, he stopped sitting down. So weird.

    Maybe we should try the inflatable duck... I don't know what his deal is!

    Could you just continue to let him take showers?  DS didnt like taking baths for the longest time, so we just stuck him in the shower with either DH or we would just sit there next to the shower with him.  We do however have a walk-in shower that does not have a slick floor that is huge, so we can almost be halfway in and not be getting wet.  He loved showers and they were quicker so we didnt fight him on taking a bath.  He has however gone back to loving baths.

    Yeah, I guess we could try that... We've just been making due with him standing up in the tub since it works, it's just annoying. But maybe the shower would work better for now :)

    How high do you have the water?

    Around Fin's age, Katie started standing all the time in the bath. I think she was cold.

    So, we filled the tub up to just above her belly button and she was much happier. She loves deep baths.
