Crib rail bite guard?

Is there something you can buy to put over the crib railing so that DC won't mess it up from chewing on it? Right now, she's just gumming it, but one tiny tooth is poking through and I don't want it to get messed up. It's supposed to be the footrail on her "forever" bed!

Re: Crib rail bite guard?

  • yup you can find them at babies r us.  I got one when DS messed up the side but he stopped once I bought it.  So I never used it.

  • I actually have one of these that I got from a consignment sale (sanitized it in the dishwasher), but we never used it. You're welcome to have it if you'd like!

  • We got a gummy (gummi?) rail cover from BRU.  It was the only kind that fit the wide rail on DS' crib.  Good thing you're doing this early, we didn't and he did some pretty major damage to the side rails.  Fortunately the front rail (which will be the footboard on the bed) just has a few scrapes.

  • Ditto Mikey. I did not do this soon enough and it looks like a beaver lived in her crib. Luckily our side rail was the hardest hit too, which will not be a part of the bed anymore when it converts to a full size bed. I had one of the cloth tie on covers, b/c I was worried about the sticky ones messing up the finish when I pulled it off.

  • DS's crib is non standard and has wide rails so I actually made my own with some towels and industrial strength velcro from Walmart. He did some damage to the sides before I was able to do that, but like pp said, we were mainly concerned with the front since that will be his full size footboard. You will be glad you thought of this early on!
  • Thanks, everyone. I went to BRU at lunch and found a fabric one. You should have heard me trying to describe what I was looking for to the woman who works there!
