Success after IF

Best/cheapest way to book hotel/condo?

We are planning a beach vacation for May.

My aunt and uncle have a condo that we can probably use for free, but I won't know for a few more weeks if it will be available.

So, I need to try to figure out a cheap/great way to stay at the beach for a week...and I need it not to break the bank.

It will have to be within driving distance, so we are limited to the Gulf Coast (Alabama and Florida beaches).

Any tips for booking a great condo, cheap?  Thanks!!

  • We go to Destin and Orange Beach often, try VBRO.com (vacation rental by owner)

  • Hotwire has worked for us in like 4 cities.

  • For hotels I have had a lot of success with Priceline. I do a ton of research before bidding to make sure I get a hotel I want.

I also used VRBO.com to rent out a house in orlando a few years ago and have no complaints using them.

  • Be careful with hotwire or Priceline - I believe they only have to give you a room for 2 - so it might be a bit crowded with the three of you.  (but you can do research on betterbidding.com and see what hotels usually come up.)

I was also going to second VRBO.

  • I second VRBO...we go to SoWal every year and that's how we book.
