Silly question about sizes...
Is 2T for kids up to two years old and then 3T for kids up to three years old (2-3 years)? My DD is wearing 2T now and I don't see how she will fit it until she is three. Does this make sense?

It'll vary, as it always does, but you'd be amazed at how long they start staying in sizes. My DD can still fit into some 3T pants even, although they are on the short side now compared to her 4T things. But she needs 5T in tops as she has a long torso like me.
She was in 2T for most of the year she was 2, then I started mixing in 3T stuff that winter when she turned 3. This year I'll buy 5T summer stuff though (even though she is 4) since she is really tall for her age and I want the dresses to reach her knees.
It totally varies depending on the brand. DD wears 3T shirts in Cherokee, Jumping Beans, Old Navy & Gap, but 2T in Carter's and most other brands.
Pants are the same. 2T or 24M depending on the brand.
Most of the time I don't even go off the sizing charts anymore since none of them are accurate.
I always thought the idea of 2T was that kids wear that size starting around age 2, and around age 3 they move up to 3T. Depends on the kid, though. My DS is just now wearing some 18 month size clothes, so I definitely don't see him going up 2 more sizes in less than 6 months.
Is every kid the same exact size? No.
Get the size that fits.
This. B is 20 months old and has been wearing 2T tops since fall (14-15 months). He's been wearing 18 month pants since his birthday (though he can wear some 12m and some 2T as well).
It all depends on the kid, and how they grow.
