What if WE get sick??

I feel a cold coming on and I'm in a panic. Not sure what to do...I'm going to give the doctor a call, but just wonder if any of you have been through this. I'm wearing a mask right now, but some how I feel that's not going to cut it.

Advice?

    I've been sick twice since my boys came home. I understand your panic but wanted to let you know that neither of my boys got sick. My doctor told me to wear a mask and wash hands a lot. He also told me to continue to give them breastmilk (I'm pumping) because the milk contains antibodies that will protect them. 

    My doctor said it was unlikely the babies would get sick from me if I took all the precautions and he was right.

    I hope you feel better soon. I'm sorry, I know how stressful it is.

    It's definitely stressful, but there are things you can do.  My husband and I have both had nasty colds and our little one remained unscathed.  Wear a mask when you're in close contact with your baby and, obviously, wash your hands a ton.  Use clorox wipes on things like door handles and faucets that others might touch before touching your baby.  If you think about how germs are spread, hand washing really does make a huge difference.  Are you breastfeeding or pumping?  If so, the antibodies in your milk can help stave off illness or make whatever cold you have manifest itself much more mildly in your little one.  Good luck!

    Thanks ladies! I am breastfeeding and pumping so I will continue to do that! Just praying these little guys have good immune systems already.

    DH and I have been sick a few times too, but LO has not gotten anything, so it is possible! We wore masks & did tons of handwashing and sanitizing. Good luck!

    I wore a mask when I got sick a month ago, and LO didn't get sick.

    My mom (who watches over LO when I come to work) got sick this week and yesterday when I came home, LO had so many dried buggers in the entrance of his nose...

    I was sick and a house guest (BIL) was also sick a month after DD came home and he kept his distance while I did my best to stay away from her face and take care of myself as much as possible and disinfect lots!

    Yep, breastfeeding will be a great defence! You'll pass along those cold fighting antibodies. That good handwashing, and good nutrution and hydration for yourself is your best defence.  Hope you feel better soon!
