Monday afternoon I put J down for his nap at my in-laws (there's construction going on at our house) and then went out to get our something out of the car. When I went outside I saw one of the donkeys in the woods on the WRONG side of the fence. I was there alone and J was down for a nap and had NO CLUE what I needed to do.
Called my FIL who thankfully was working close by and could come to help. However in the meantime I was following the donkey around, calling her, but she just kept going away from me and toward the road. She was out in the road and a car came up, which thankfully scared her back close to the fence and my FIL arrived. FIL was trying to get her to go in the pasture and of course, she wouldn't so I had to help.
Meanwhile, the other donkey tried to escape when we opened the gate so FIL had to hold her back and kept telling me just to push the escaped one back into the pasture. Yeah...this one's name is "Stormy" and it's very appropriate for her attitude some days. She kept raring up her hind legs trying to kick me - there was no way I was going to push her!
Thankfully a little bribery with some ginger snaps and gentle pushing/guiding got her back into the pasture after she trampled through the garden (so glad we don't have much planted yet b/c I would have been angry if she had destroyed our plants!).
Growing up a Raleigh girl, never did I think I'd have some of the experiences I have now!

Life at Chunky Gal
Even having read your title, I was so confused here! "One of the donkeys"...meaning it was a donkey you knew since you didn't seem to be surprised by its presence, and that there were others.
You grew up in the city, but said city has a university with an agriculture program, so you never know!
I love this! Next time, you'll have to share photos, LOL. Thanks for sharing -- how funny!!!
