Food Allergy Update

For all you allergy moms, DS #3 had his repeat RAST done a couple of weeks ago (the first test was done at 7 months) and we followed up with the allergist this morning.  The news is mixed.

Good News - Egg and peanut numbers are actually going DOWN!  I am so surprised at the peanut number and hope it continues to decline.

Bad News - Milk and dog dander are way up as well as tree nuts (which he did not test positive for the first time).

$#@!  I was not at all surprised by the milk number seeing as how I had to administer the epi in November after he accidentally drank his brother's milk.  But trading peanut for tree nut?  That I did not see coming.

We test again at 3 years so in the mean time, he is allergic to milk, egg, peanut and tree nuts.  Strict avoidance continues.

Re: Food Allergy Update

  • Oh no! Can I ask how you discovered each of these allergies? M is 6 months old and we already know he's allergic to dairy and soy, and we suspect he may also be allergic to peaches, but we're not sure about the last one. I've been wondering if it would be worthwhile to see an allergist at this age.

  • We had him tested at 7 months because after eliminating dairy from my diet and switching to a hypoallergenic formula for supplementing (he broke out in hives when he ingested cow's milk), DS was still reacting to things I couldn't pin point.  That's when our pedi referred us to an allergist.

  • Oh no!  All I can say, is I feel your pain!  Keira is allergic to milk and eggs.  She also tested low for peanuts, wheat, soy, cats and dogs.  We are seeing an allergist on March 2nd.  I am just hoping we just have to deal with milk and eggs but anticipating the worst!  Tongue Tied
  • DD is allergic to peanuts, to the touch and ingestion.  We tested her at 2yrs old as we were told that you get more accurate results after they are 2.  She is also allergic to dogs, cats, horses, and other seasonal items.  We are doing immunotherapy shots to help with the pet and seasonal allergies and they seem to be working.  She was around cats this past weekend and just rubbed her eyes a tiny bit.  When she was around these same cats before she'd sneeze, get watery and red itchy eyes, runny nose, etc.

  • our allergist said testing before 2nd b-day can have a lot of false POSITIVES

we tested DD last week and I'm awaiting results (we did the blood test)

  • so sorry your kiddo is going through this.  I have suffered from SEVERE allergies my whole life and know how it is to carry an epi everywhere...Is he having annaphalactic(sp)  to everything, if it's only rash, weezing, etc,  some allergies can actually be cured with acupuncture.  the dog one  for sure.

This website is on the cheesy side, but it explains how the process was developed.  there are tons of testimonials online, not connected to the particular site, but i believe this is the person who developed the treatment.  https://www.naet.com/

anyway it may be worth a look, espically if you ever get conned into shots.  I took them for years and that is a bunch of bologna.

good luck to you and your little guy.

    praying for a miracle ..
