3rd Trimester

Really sensitive belly button???

Is this just me?  Is it b/c it now sticks out  a good 1/2 inch in front of my stomach and I scrape/rub/hit it on everything? I keep thinking  its because  its skin or muscles that are not used to so much contact with clothes and such, but sometimes it really does seem like it hurts more than it should  if I rub it or I accidentally bump something.  Sheesh - the things I never thought I would ask about before being pregnant!

Re: Really sensitive belly button???

  • Mine is really sensitive, too... and my toddler is just really getting into naming body parts and checking to see who has what, so she keeps lifting up my shirt ten times a day and jabbing my bellybutton to compare how she has one, too... ouch! lol

  • Mine is the same way! Super sensitive to touch, and if it gets bumped it really hurts.

  • Mine is not sticking out yet but I think it will it's still got a little way to go but it is very sensitive most of the time, at times it burns, it feels like the muscles/skin is being stretched so much it even burns!!!
  • I have to remind my boyfriend that it's not like a magical third nipple or something and to stop playing with it as such. It gets really irritated so easily and I hate being touched anywhere close to it on my belly - mostly the skin around it is so itchy for me and I attribute this to it being so stretched out in comparison to how it usually is. The majority of the time these days I walk around the house with my shirt hiked up and my belly exposed because the entire thing just is so sensitive.

Things to avoid during pregnancy: Eye contact with cats. Cats will suck the burgeoning life right out of you, using their infamous feline mind-powers. Avert your eyes, and move along.

FACT: 1 in 10 people are said to be a carrier of Listeria. Therefore you should avoid all shopping malls, grocery stores and busy street corners for the duration of your pregnancy. Or microwave anyone you contact until steaming, just to be safe.
  • I hate anyone touching my belly button even when I'm not pregnant. Now that it's pretty much flat with my stomach and being touched when people want to touch the bump, I cringe!

  • Mine is not an outtie but it's flat now and it does feel bruised & hurt sometimes.  My doctor said the belly button can become bruised internally during pregnancy because of everything pushing against it.  It's normal.  And yours must hurt more than mine, being an outtie and hitting it on things.
