Heyo, I posted a couple of things on the regular boards and, although many people were sweet and supportive, some were sooooo judgemental! I know I can't be sensitive about the internet but it blows my mind that people think they know everything about a person when they have no idea. I'm a teacher, and thats just not what I practice or preach so it's sad to see it happen in the world, among adults. People have told me I sound like I'm 15, which words I "can't" use on here (preggo), and that "no one cares" when I'm "TTC" (what the hell does that mean?). Yikes! Just venting.
With that said, I am not pregnant, and we're not planning on trying until this fall. I am well aware that we might not get pregnant for a year after that (which many people have "informed" me of), I'm just feeling very ready to be a mom and I'm wanting to get involved in the (nice) mommy community and learn from other ladies who are raising families, in order to prepare myself.
I'm curious about other women who might be newly married and waiting for certain things to happen before starting (I'm 27 and finishing up graduate school). Nice to "meet" ya'll.
Re: new, not there yet, and nervous
Welcome! Sorry you didn't have a good first experience. Most boards have a "tone" to them so my advice would be to lurk for a while before deciding if a board is right for you. Also be careful not to "bash" one board on another, just as you can hop from board to board, others can too and this wouldn't be a good first impression on you.
The TTGP board would probably be best for you at this point. Lurk on the board and read the "newbie" link at the top of the board before you post. If you're not on a hormonal type of birth control right now (pills, patch, IUD), you could begin charting (if you're going to "actively" TTC) to get to know your cycles and your body better. That way when you ARE ready to try, you'll already have a great understanding of your cycles and your body. The ladies on that board can offer you lots of advice on getting started with temping and charting.
Good luck!
