Would I be able to tell if...

my baby flipped?

LO has been head down all along, and as of yesterday's appointment still was. But today he or she has been moving like crazy and the movements feel different... like I'm feeling knees and elbows in places I usually don't. I also felt hiccups closer to my hip when I usually feel them near my cervix.

I'm probably being paranoid but I'm worried that the baby might have flipped. Is that even possible at this point? How can I tell?

I had my weekly check up today and actually asked my doctor the same thing. She said it's highly unlikely this late in pregnancy but it is possible. Mine is still head down thank goodness!

  • My baby was breech and I could tell he was flipping/flipped by feeling different parts and stronger punches. He was breech at the at 35 weeks, he turned by 37 weeks.
  • My guess is that your baby is still head down.  I've been feeling hiccups closer to my hip for weeks, only recently have they been by my cervix and he's been head down the whole time according to my doctor.  Sometimes babies move up and down a bit before they become engaged in your pelvis.  Maybe LO is just a little higher today.

  • i thought the same thing a few days ago, but had my appt today and he's still head down. I think he's just outgrowing his little space and starting to stretch out a bit differently.
