TTC after 35

Tell me about cysts...

I had my appointment with my oncologist today and all is fine on that end (thank god). No one bothered to pass along my message yesterday about moving the appt for AF. So annoying in addition to scaring me into thinking something bad was on my report.  Anyway, my u/s report from last Saturday shows my left ovary as enlarged with multiple cysts, the biggest being 3.59 x 3.29 x 3.66.

I don't imagine the cyst(s) would have resolved themselves in a week?  This is going to prevent me from cycling this month, isn't it? I go in tomorrow morning for an u/s and I really can't take much more bad news this week..

Re: Tell me about cysts...

  • Glad to  hear the appointmkent today went well. that must be a relief.

Cycts usually take about a month to resolve themelves and unfortunately, it will probably prevent you from cycling this month. Your RE will make a recomendation but I wouldn't do it.

I had a 2.6 cm cyct on my right ovary back in October. It was leftover from my 2.4 cm follicle. The RE said I most likely would n ot produce a another follicle wiht a cyst there and I didn't. I went in on CD14 and it had shrunk by half and by my next cycle it was gone.

That was an unmedicated cycle for me so stims might make a difference in follicle production.

Where did these cycts come from is the larger question? I am guessing they weren't there when you had your follicle monitoring last cycle since you only had one follicle at 17mm. (is that right?). Did they grow afterwards?

I'm so sorry if this puts you on hold for a month.

Single Mother by Choice. Life didn't work out the way I planned so I did it on my own. • So glad to hear the the appointment went well with the oncologist but very sorry to hear about the cyst.  I've had residual cysts before and they do affect my cycle...it took about 2 weeks for them to resolve themselves.

     Stooopid cysts.

  • Argh!

Melle- I only had the 17mm follicle on my right. There was nothing on my left so no idea where it came from. Certainly doesn't sound like the luck of the Irish, does it?

I'll let you ladies know tomorrow. Really glad I spent $400 on meds that will sit in my fridge for the next month mocking me!

  • I get cysts a lot too.  If you have just one some doctors will drain it.  They release estrogen which is counterproductive to stimming.  I hear that the aspiration procedure to drain it can be very painful so I'd rather just wait it out.

I wonder if there is any benefit to doing progesterone to help it go away?  Has anyone heard of that?

About me: A pixie in the city, 41, TTC #1 since May 2010, married 18 years. Diagnosed with, surgically removed, endometrioma Aug.2010 Sept 2010 IUI #1=BFN, Oct=cyst/bfn, Nov 2010 IUI #2 = bfn. IVF #2: 3 great embies put in on Easter Sunday = BFN. Hoping for another chance at IVF in July. TTC is NOT for wimps. http://www.fertilityfriend.com/ticker/2fab90/ttc.png

I will ask tomorrow. I know I'm weird but I didn't feel nearly as tired as I usually do when I was taking the prometrium.

  • i've had about 3 cysts since starting ART ... they let my cycle thru the smaller ones, but the bigger ones would result in a forced break ...

speaking of forced breaks ... i posted above, but my fsh and estrogen are too high for meds this cycle.

oh, and not only am i irish too ... but my birthday is on st. patrick's day!  but yeah, i'm not feeling the luck either.
