Napping at daycare question

I don't post here much, but I was hoping you ladies would have some suggestions for me.  My DS is a great sleeper but is used to being held/rocked to sleep.  Now that I've returned to work (DS is 8 months old) he is in daycare, and I can't imagine that they will be able to hold/rock him to sleep for his naps!  Any suggestions on getting him to fall asleep on his own?  I am totally against CIO methods, which is why I was hoping for some help from AP mommas!

Re: Napping at daycare question

  • No, I haven't.  Sleep hasn't been an issue when he's with me.  I'm just worried about him sobbing hysterically at daycare because he's tired!  I will check that out.  Thank you!

  • Well, I don't know what your DC's policy is but my DS slept in a swing for naps for a loooong time.  I think he was almost a year old when one day he wanted to sleep in the pnp, and transferred no fuss.  He's always been a great sleeper at DC, even now in preschool where they sleep on mats on the ground in the playroom he zonks out easily for hours.  So, maybe a swing?

  • Ditto pp who said they won't let your LO cry because they won't want the other sleeping kiddos to be disturbed.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Kids often times develop different sleeping habits at daycare than they do at home. I've read other mamas on here say how thier LO won't sleep in a crib at home, but does just fine in the crib at daycare. And it wouldn't hurt to mention to your DCP provider that you aren't okay with your LO CingIO.

    Good luck!

  • Tell them to rock him.  They should do what you do at home.  Make them aware that you do not support CIO.  I used to work at a daycare and they rocked babies to sleep all the time.  They should be able to do this task for you.
