So lately Ben has been developing a pattern - we put him to bed and within an hour he wakes up screaming like he is terrified. It takes a while to calm him down and get him back to sleep. I can't figure out what is causing this or how to stop it - I suspect teething (but we give tylenol before bed) and/or seperation anxiety
He has a noise machine, a night light, blankets (we use afgans - they have holes to let air in if they get over his face - but he has always been a light sleeper so I don't really worry about it) and a lovey that I have slept with so it smells like me.
Any ideas on what would help?
Re: Waking Up Screaming
wish i had a reason why, but my DD would go through periods where she would wake up screaming (and still does at 21 months). It usually was related to teething or some other milestone and it took a few days to a week to resolve. I just went through this last night and I'm hoping it was a fluke.
For teething I kept a wash cloth in the freezer for sucking during the night and water in a sippy.
No cold right now. Naps vary - Ben has never been a good sleeper. But we are on our second good nap of the day today - so if it doesn't happen tonight I will assume it was because he was overtired.
Good to know it has passed quickly for those who have experienced it...
