hi everyone

i'm looking to invest into a nice (semi) pro camera for my kids and our special events. if you have a nice camera (not a point & shoot), please recommend which one you have...

1. brand?

2. where did you buy it? how much did it cost?

3. did you buy extra gear for it? (lens, etc)

4. on a scale from 1-10 how much do you like your camera?

5. anything you want to share with me about shopping for a camera like this?

I always suggest the latest in the Canon Rebel series. Right now I believe it's the t2i. I highly suggest a fast prime lens like the 50mm 1.8 as well as a telephoto (aka zoom lens) which will prob come with it as a kit lens. The Nikon D90 is a great camera too, and I also suggest the 50mm if you go that option. Enjoy!

We have the Canon Rebel and love it! We've also bought a few extra lenses (the 50 mm is a favorite in our house).

Another Canon Rebel fan here! We got a package with camera and an extra telescope lens at COSTCO! GREAT deal and awesome return policy if you don't like (90days even if open) which gives you time to play with it and decide. They also sell the Nikon with packages. GL!

I have the Canon Rebel also, I used to use the film version of it and I loved it so I got the DSLR. It's awesome. Like the others suggested, I have a telephoto lens and I also have a 50mm, in addition to the standard that it comes with.

I got mine years ago, maybe about 5 years? Anyways its the Canon Rebel as well, LOVE IT!!
