WWYD? (spotting)

For the last 6 weeks I have had some spotting every once in a while, but it has been brown. When I asked my OB at my last appt he said not to be concerned since it was brown. Well, this morning I woke up and had some pink on the TP. Not tons, but enough to be alarmed. DH and I had sex this past weekend, but I feel like it's been too long for it still to be pink. I am definitely going to call my OB office as soon as they open. Would you go to work? I am a kindergarten teacher so I am constantly moving around. Not sure if I should call in sick or if I'm just being paranoid.

Re: WWYD? (spotting)

  • i would go to work just to keep your mind off your troubles.  however, i don't know how it works as a teacher if you have to leave in the middle of the day and need a sub.

  • I would probably call in sick to stay home and rest and then call the doctor as soon as the office opens. I'm not sure I could concentrate at work and sometimes I think rest is the best thing you can do anyway. Hope all is okay!

  • I had spotting two weeks ago (went from pink to brown in four days).  Saw doc on day1 of spotting and was put on light bed rest (I am also a teacher) for two weeks.  You should probably go check it out, even if it is to ease you mind.
  • FWIW, I have this brown/pink spotting off and on. My OB and a peri both told me that sometimes people just have it, and there isn't a great reason (gee, thanks!). I'm glad you're going to call, though, because I know it is nerve-wracking.

I would go to work if you think you won't be too distracted, because I think keeping your mind busy helps. Also, maybe they'll want you to come in, so is it easier not to go than to go and leave?

I hope it's nothing, and I'll be thinking of you.

  • Thanks for the advice ladies. I ended up going to work and calling as soon as their office opened and left a message with the nurse. They called me back and told me to go home and lie down for the rest of the day and drink tons of water. They said as long as it doesn't get any worse it is nothing to be concerned about. So far it hasn't gotten worse at all so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it stays that way.
