Spring Forward - who's ready?

How is it already time to change the clocks again??? What are your tips and tricks for losing an hour this weekend? I always mess daylight savings time up in our house! How do you help ease the transition in your house?

Reminder: it's this sunday March 13th at 2am that we "spring forward" making us losing an hour of our day - here's to longer daylight hours... and *hopefully* spring and no more cold weather!

Re: Spring Forward - who's ready?

  • I'm SO ready! I'm a night owl so waking up early (and in the dark/semi-dark) for work is hard for me...but I also don't have little ones to adjust so next year will be more interesting...

  • Its ALWAYS been hard for me to adjust my sleep.

I get really bad migraines, and changing my sleep makes it so much worse.

  • I'm so excited for more daylight!  We're not planning on doing anything, just keeping our normal schedule.  He goes to bed and get up on the early side, though, so I don't think it will affect us much if at all.
  • I'm ready. Lily has taken to getting up in the 6am hour, and I need that time to get myself ready for work. I figure I will be losing an hour of sleep anyhow, so that won't matter to me! An extra hour with her at night, and her sleeping until it is time to go to daycare sounds like a win to me!

This is the first time it's really going to matter. Last year, and the year before, he wasn't a consistent STTN kiddo. Now, he is. It will be interesting.

I think we will have to just push everything out because keeping the same schedule won't work out too well. It will be nice to have the extra light though! I am so excited for nice weather and longer days.

  • I am also very excited for the longer days and nicer weather.  We will probably play it by ear with DS.
  • I can?t wait!  The boy has so much energy and it?s been too dark by the time we get home to let him run around. This has led to some ?challenges? discipline wise. I?m hoping the extra play will do a lot for him. I?ll take a week or so of messed up sleep for that!

  • We have never really needed to do anything for M. He is so set in his bedtime routine, we just do our normal bedtime and cross our fingers he sleeps until his normal time. (7:30-7:30ish)

  • I'll be honest, I'm dreading this.  Naptime on Sunday is going to be hell (they already fight it anyway) so that will make bedtime hell too.

I think we're going to try to start moving things back 10-15 minutes per day.  But I bet daycare naps (which they don't fight) will change right away so I've got my fingers crossed that those help our bedtime challenge!

  • Im not looking forward to it just because I finally have a morning routine set and my "internal alarm clock" set and I fear this will mess it up lol

  • So not ready this time! Normally the change in time is no big deal but the girls have had such terrible sleep lately that I'm kind of terrified. Then there's a part of me hoping the time change fixes the sleep issues a little or at least gets the girls to sleep in a little later (Mommy isn't a happy mommy at 6:00 am).
