Uterine anomaly?

Hi ladies! I am new here and I am hoping to get some insight as I feel a little in the dark.  I had an ultrasound done this week to help find out why I have not gotten pregnant after 15 cycles.  The Dr. said I have a uterine anomaly.  I am having an MRI done later this week to rule out a need for corrective surgery.  Does an arcuate uterus effect your chances of becoming pregnant? Does anyone have any experience or knowledge on this?  Thank you! :)

    I don't have any answers to your questions, but welcome and good luck with your MRI. I'm sorry you are facing some difficult days, but I hope that any problems are solvable and in the end you're that much closer to reaching your goal of having a baby.

    Is arcuate what your Dr. thinks you have?  An MRI will help give you more info.  Is a 3D u/s an option?  I had a septum removed, which supposedly doesn't cause IF, but does increase chance of m/c.  Many people with uterine anomolies are able to carry to term, it just may take a little more time, surgery, ART.  Best of luck!

    I have an arcuate uterus. My RE said it wouldn't affect my chances of getting pregnant or carrying the baby.

    ETA: I don't think they ever do surgery for an arcuate uterus so your MRI is probably to rule out a septum. I had an HSG and saline sono to dx my issue as an arcuate uterus and not a septum. 

    m/c 7/17/10
    Dx: MFI- 3% morph
    IUIs: Gonal-F + Ovidrel + b2b IUI= BFNs
    IVF with ICSI= BFP! EDD 11/25/11

    Not sure that I can help you, but wanted to welcome you to the board!!  I am sure someone can help you out- the board is full of ladies with great info to offer.

    Ditto.  Mine was so small, my RE didn't think it was an issue.

    I have a bicornuate uterus, which basically means it is shaped like a heart instead of a pear.  If you have a septum, it can be removed and it shouldn't affect your chances of getting pregnant or carrying to term. 

    While there is no surgery to really correct a bicornuate uterus, my doc says that it shouldn't affect my chances of getting pregnant, however, it can make it harder to carry to term.  I had an HSG to confirm the diagnosis, followed up by an MRI.  Good luck...I'm sure everything will be fine. :)

    Thank you all :) It's so nice to have someone to ask these questions to. Tomorrow is my MRI so hopefully I will have some more answers soon.  Thank you for the welcome and answers.  I wish everyone good luck on their journeys!
