Anyone given themself a trigger shot?

I'm more likely than not on my own tonight for my trigger shot at 10:15 p.m. Has anyone attempted to do this themselves or should I try to find someone to help me out?

I have done each and every shot myself.

Unless you are very nervous or anxious about giving yourself the shot, I would maybe find someone else so that you don't waste any of the med (unless of course you have another trigger laying around).

ditto...i did mine in the bathroom of my bookclub. But i was not nervous.

I did all my own sub-q. My IVF trigger was IM. MH was around so he did it, if not I would have done it myself too.

I give myself all of my shots (sub-q). Best way to do it is to lay down and stick it in really quickly (that's what she said!!). Good luck!!

I'm a complete wuss and had to call my friend over at 10pm for my trigger shot, twice. My Dh couldn't do it and neither could I, I imagine if I do IVF we are going to have to overcome this fear. I know it's not that bad, but I just haven't been able to pull it off yet. Good Luck!

I think the trigger shots are a breeze. You should be fine to do it on your own.

My DH does all of my IM shots for me, but I do all of my sub-q by myself. My trigger was sub-q.

I did mine- it was SQ in the stomach. I set my alarm 20 minutes early so if I needed to work myself up to it, I'd have time. So the first shot, I kept saying to myself- ok, just do it. But looking down at my stomach and watching a needle go into it made it seem worse- so it took me a few times before I finally did it. Once I did it, I was fine. And the next time it was no problem. Mostly it was a mental block.

The needle is super small, you really don't feel it. If you need to you can ice it to numb your skin.

Too funny! I just did my own trigger for the first time very early this morning. Usually my NP does the shots but it had to be done at 4 a.m., so I didn't get the luxury. Honestly, it wasn't bad at all. I actually put the needle in very slowly and I still barely felt it. Good luck!

I hope you don't mind me posting. I gave myself a trigger shot many times. I used ovidrel so it was a sub-q and it was super easy. I'm a huge, HUGE needle-phobe (or used to be anyways) and was so nervous. I just watched a youtube video of it and sat with my goo in my hand and psyched myself up to do it. I truly didn't even feel it. Good luck!
