What's the story with the IL love fest? What happened to cause such a turn around? Is this all related to their change in heart after watching SIL's marriage fall apart?

Either way it's good news. Improved relations with the ILs are a good thing.

    I don't think I can pin it to one thing, specifically. Mostly, I think that everyone is doing a much better job at communicating their individual needs (shocking, huh?), and much of what we experienced, before, related to natural "growing pains" of the lovely IL dynamic. From my side, I've tried to make an effort (even moreso) to keep "things" in perspective and remain as open-minded and understanding as possible.

    Oh, I love it when everyone acts like grown ups! Makes things so much easier. Glad you all are trying to find middle ground and be respectful and forgiving of each other.
