LO has a couple spots on his liver so I was sent to the MFM dr. to check them out. He did b/w to check for CMV and toxoplasmosis just to make sure. Apparently I'm negative/negative, which is great, but she said that means that I've never been exposed or have immunity to toxoplasmosis. I have (well had until recently) 5 cats and cleaned 6 litter boxes daily for most of the pregnancy. DH finally took over a month ago because I'm too fat to bend over that much. :P I'm not going to lie... I definitely wasn't as cautious as I probably should have been. They're inside cats, but still... I've had a lot of rescues/strays (they're all converted strays)/barn cats, etc. over the years and assumed I'd just already had an immunity to it! I know the risk is so small with inside cats, but I just would have bet having been around SO many cats my entire life that I already had an immunity.
Re: woops, well that was kind of dumb
Oh wow that is crazy!!! H took over the litter box duties even before i was k/u because he thought it's better for him to just go ahead and start the habit. (uh ok?)
Anyway, when I talked to my doc (and our cat's vet) both thought I most likely was immune since I had been around cats all my life. Now I'm curious if I really am!
28 & Pregnant Blog
I've had indoor/outdoor cats my whole life but my OB did a test early on in the pregnancy and NOPE not immune.
I was shocked.
