I admit, I LOVE the name and I got thisclose to DH agreeing to it if LO had been a boy. Now though he watches Phineas & Ferb with DD and I'm afraid to even bring it up again.
What do you think? Did the cartoon ruin the name?
The Journey of a Thousand Miles begins with One Step.
1998 Ovarian Cancer Survivor. 7 Miscarriages: 6w, 13w2d, 4w2d, 7w4d (DD's twin), 5w. Failed Tubal after c/s (!!): 5w2d, 6w4d
For me, yes but a lot of people haven't seen that cartoon. Not to mention I don't think it is a classic cartoon so the association will likely fade with time.
No, because I have never heard of that cartoon, and I have little kids. So the majority of the people in the world (who don't have little kids) probably haven't heard of it either.

I think of A Separate Peace. Love that name. Much better than all the Finleys and Finnigan "Finns" running around. Phineas or bust if you want a Finn, IMO.
I automatically think of the cartoon, and I don't even like it! That being said though, I do think the association will fade, especially since there's no way that show will be remembered 10 years from now (probably sooner then that). Even if the association does stick, it doesn't have to ruin the name for you, DH and I decided on the name Dexter, and we both think of Dexter's Laboratory right away when we hear it.

That's funny! I used to love that cartoon! Do you worry about the association with Dexter the tv show? I've never watched it but I heard its pretty grotesque.

I have gotten a few "Dexter...as in the serial killer from TV?" questions, but neither DH or I have seen that show. People keep telling me that I should watch it because it's the kind of show that I like, but I never got around to it. I may or may not try seeing it now in case it ruins the name for me. Hopefully, by the time he starts school the show will be done and people will start forgetting about it.

And it certainly didn't stop Julia Roberts. It's also a literary name, has a famous bearer in P.T. Barnum and has the option of the nick name Phin.

I'd never heard of the cartoon until a few weeks ago when someone else asked about Phineas.
I think of A Separate Peace and think it is a terrific name. I much prefer it over Atticus.
