I know I am over thinking this but I am stressing about taking Jocelyn's crib and everything away! If we talk about it to her she gets really possessive and says "Jocey's bed, Jocey's rocking chair" etc.
Right now the plan is to have a big girl twin bed in the room, a night stand and we got one of those cube organizers with pink baskets for her books. I am making a reading nook with her Pottery Barn chair and some floor pillows. I am trying to keep it as minimal as possible for the time being to reduce temptation of getting out of bed. Her closet has built ins with a 3 drawer built in dresser, she can't open the closet doors. Does this sound like it will work, there really isn't a need for a full room of new furniture is there? Anything I am missing, I have to plan on changing her on the floor for now, but hopefully we will be potty trained by summer.
Re: Need Options re:big girl rooms!
I would go ahead and get her in the twin bed asap, and also get anything out of the room that is going to be in the baby's room. That way it's not like the baby has her things.
All Eli has in his room is his bed and a dresser. Since you have the storage in the closet, you don't need the dresser. He also has a built in bookcase for his books & stuff, so you've got that covered with the cubes. I think what you're describing sounds good, but I would go ahead and do as much as you can to get all the 'baby' out of her room now, I think it will be an easier transition when the baby comes.
Are you leaving her in the same room, or is she getting a new room?
She'll probably be fine. We are actually moving Eli into another room and using his room for the nursery and I'm wondering how he's going to handle that. But I think he'll be so excited about his big boy room he won't care. But we put him in his big bed already, and took out the glider to get him used to the new setup.
We've recently started talking to him about the new baby and asked him if she/he could sleep in his old crib and he seemed to think that was ok
I'm actually more worried about the toys than anything, he had a hard time when we put some of his favorites into storage.
