CVS BBT Thermometer question

Squishy's post earlier this week got me thinking that the purple CVS thermometer I had been using may be unreliable (possibly resulting in my rocky charts).  I ordered the Mabis thermometer from Walmart online, but it won't get here for several days.  Today is CD1 for me and I don't want to start using a new thermometer mid-cycle.

Someone in that thread mentioned that CVS has a new BBT for sale (a white one).  If you have this one, have you had any problems with it?  Do you like it?  Have you noticed any "favorite" temps?

Thanks!

Re: CVS BBT Thermometer question

  • I've been using the CVS purple BBT for the last 2 months and I haven't had any issues and it doesn't seem to have favorite temps. I hope that Mabis works for you!

I use that one. It seems to take a long time to read, but I haven't noticed any favorite temps. My chart's a little bumpy, but bumpy in a natural-looking way, if that makes any sense.

Which one - the white one or the purple one?  The label on the white one says it reads in approximately 60 seconds.  The purple one does take a long time to read, sometimes up to 3 minutes.

Thanks, I meant the white CVS BBT.  Since the Mabis won't arrive for several days, I was planning to start using that for cycle #5 (if there is a cycle #5, that is).  If the white one is any good, I could run out and get it today and start using it tomorrow morning.

Sorry, I went back and edited. I have the white one. The packaging says 60 seconds, but I would say it takes twice that. I've toyed with the idea of replacing it because of this.

Thanks for the clarification.  Hmm...that still sounds better than the purple one - I feel like the purple one takes forever.  Do you temp orally or vaginally?  And do you clean yours off everyday?

Orally. I'm not sure when you say "clean off" if you mean physically or clearing the data. I clean it daily and it only stores on temep, so the data clears daily.

2 minutes is a long time first thing in the a.m., but you're right, it could be worse. Happy shopping!

Thank you!  Yes, I meant physically cleaning off the part that goes in your mouth, not clearing the data.  I think I'll run out and get it now.

  • I have the CVS Purple Thermometer and also have a super messed up chart. I just bought this one last month to replace the Target Pink one that started giving me the same temp everyday. I hate that the purple one takes forever to give you a reading! I now feel like I need to buy another one. Or just accept that Ididnt ovulate this month or last month. Sad

Thanks, Squish!  I'm trying to look on the bright side of things.  I'm planning to run out shortly and pick up the white CVS one to use this cycle, since the Mabis won't get here in time.  If there is a cycle #5, however, I might switch to the Mabis, since many people have given it good reviews.

That's weird - my purple one always beeps when it's done.  It just takes a long time to finish, though.  I also don't like how it lights up, but I haven't come across any that has a backlight.
