Ugg I am so uninspired for Robbie's 3rd birthday party.
Last year we did a family only party that was construction theamed. It was pretty easy and just low key.
This year I am thinking of inviting some of the families I know that have kids.
Should I pre-invite some and ask if they want to come first? Some are bumpies who live near me but I have not had over ever.
What theames do you like for a little boy?
It seems so hard either the stuff I see if for bigger boys or little baby type nothing that I really like.
Re: Help need ideas for R's 3rd birthday
Oh does that mean we are invited? LOL just kidding!~
I havent done kid parties for Eli or Kai yet. they have cousins thier age and I have always just done small family parties (well except for thier firsts) I wouldnt htink you nee to pre invite, most eople who get invites will come I am sure.
as for themes I always run with a current favorite of thiers. Kai last year was Thomas the train. Eli last year was Cars and this years is based on the movie "UP" What is Robbie into?
Mostly because we will have a newborn and I don't want to deal with having to host a ton of people at my house - but we are renting a kid's play place out. They do everything, we just show up with cake. I love it.
That said, we've been invited to a few of M's classmates parties in the last couple months. Some parents seem to invite the whole class and some invite only a few kids. We are doing a somewhat smaller party with M's "buddies". We'll maybe do a separate family thing later, but super casual.
I dont think you need to pre-invite, if his party is going to be over a holiday weekend just make sure to send them out ahead of time. For themes we have done, monkey, polka dots (at little gym), firetrucks for M. For W's 1st we are doing a monkey/polkadot mix. There are some great party blogs to get ideas from, if you want links let me know and I can fb or pm you. What is he into? cars, trains, certain characters?
For theme do what he loves - DS LOVES Mickey Mouse and I can't stand character themed stuff but that's what he loves so that's what we did. Does he like trucks, space things etc. We held DSs 3rd at a little art studio place that also is a preschool and has art classes. The kids played and did a project and we had some snacky food and cake and were done in 2hrs. It doesn't have to be a production but I think this was the most fun birthday we've had for him because he totally gets it and all the kids get it. It seems like it would be easy to just phone it in but really, you can get away w/ something small still but something he'll be excited about and remember. Invite more people with kids than without since its his party.
I think I?m going to rent a bounce house for N?s. Our yard is pretty big and I?ll also have out the water table and some other toys. Snacks and drinks and cake and play sounds like a 3yos idea of a good time to me. If I don?t know the mom, I?m not going to invite the child so we?ll have a few bumpies, a few from church and a few from daycare. N?s really into bounce houses and camping right now but I?m saving camping as a theme until he?s older and the kids can better ?get it.?
I hear you on them being too old for the baby themes and too young for a lot of the other themes.
We did a muted "Cars" (the movie) theme for W's 3rd birthday by his request. We invited the kids from school that he cares most about and had snacks and just let them play.
I still have the cars deco, if you wan it, it's yours for free to get it out of my house !
I asked our mod, and she said party blogs were fine - that doesn't sell anything, so it should also be fine.

I'm thinking of having Ray San's at Kelsey Creek Farm this year so if I do then we'll do a barn/farm theme. I also thought that robots were cute and monsters are on the list too. You could just do Happy 3rd Birthday and then do a color theme. No one will care since they'll just want to see the birthday boy =]
