"You look like you're about to pop!" and other gems

Okay, I'm only 30 weeks, and I'm getting all sorts of these fabulous lines from people. I'm not that big- my baby is growing just fine, i haven't gained much weight... come on people, I've still got a long way to go! Just wait until I'm full term and I've got a pointy alien belly on my 5'1 frame! Then they'll see "ready to pop"!

Any one else getting some good commentary?

  • I've gotten that since 26/27 weeks.  I guess I look like I'm all baby but I'm really not and I'm pushing 200 lbs at 5'6".  DH and I went to this formal the other day and I had on a formal dress and people thought I would go any day.

Depending on the shirts I wear changes people's thoughts on how far along I am.

  • I have definitely super popped, like beyond a "bump" and into a mountain. My (male) friend asked when I was due again and when I said May, he got a grave look on his face, shook his head, and said "You're never going to make it..." It was pretty funny. Not 3 days before people were telling me I was tiny, now I feel huge.

  • I have gotten the "About to pop", the "really 2 more months!?" and the "are you sure it's not twins or triplets?"

I am so sick of all the unneccesary comments. I work with someone who is due the day before me and she is not much smaller than I am. It really gets to me since I was already a little overweight to begin with and daily comments about how huge I am are depressing!

  • Oh yeah..people are just morons.  What I notice is women who have recently had babies (within a few years even) tell me how great I look and oh "I was huge by 7 months" etc.  Older women who haven't had kids in 30 years are like "OMG you will never make it til May."  Really??  Obviously you forget how big your stomach needs to get to make an 8 lb baby.  I just nod and smile because people say the most ridiculous things to pregnant women.

  • One of my 6th grade students came up to me yesterday and said, "Mrs. A, you are not obese, you are just baby-injected."  It's pretty funny how 12 year olds dish out compliments.

  • The one that i get all the time is...

"are you sure their aren't two in there"

my response- YES A$$HOLE! im sure.   Its 2011, i think i would know how many babies are inside of me by this point and if your calling me double fat then Your ugly and fat.

  • I got all sorts of comments like this with DS1 and they have started with DS2 now.  Strangers are really the only ones saying things this time because DS1 actually did come early (32 weeks) so people who knew me during my 1st pregnancy know better than to say that I won't make it, or am I sure about my due date.

But strangers continue to look shocked when I tell them I'm not due until May.  Last time I just started saying random things--like I'm not due until December. I'm considering starting that again this time.  :)

  • I normally love all belly commentary including some things that others find offensive but I loathe the "about to pop" comment! I told DH that before I found out I was expecting after I heard him say that to my sister. No pregnant woman wants to hear she looks like she is "about to pop" seriously!

  • Someone told me today that I'm HUGE.  haha.  I AM huge, though.  I'm already measuring full-term.

  • From guys with no kids I get the pop comment.  from those with kids, I get the your so small.  Well - based on last time, this is the time I just blow up.....yay for comments.

  • I keep getting the "any day now" comment.  When I say that I'm due in 2 months, people look horrified.  I find it funny.
