Updates: Last week, I was waiting for my next appt. jteneback was thinking about wanting another baby. Clotho! had been having some high bp readings and will be starting Heparin injects and discontinuing her Lovenox and trying to rest more. ijack is hanging in there, and passed the point where she had her first abruption with DD. mrsfriend had her last cervical check last Friday and is hoping she passes her upcoming 1 hour GTT. mrsmikey had a good appt, but unfortunately couldn't hear more than a few seconds of the heartbeat. magdalina.h is in love with baby Lucas, who is healthy!   If you'd like to address a question to the group, please feel free to page or PM me.

Re: Pregnant (& TTC) After Preemie Check-in!

  • I had my appt on Friday and unfortunately was left with more questions than answers. The midwife I saw was VERY new (just graduated in 2009 and only started working with my practice 2 months ago). So I'm hoping the reason she didn't know anything about the 17P shots is b/c she's just inexperienced and is not indicative of the attitude of the rest of the midwives as well. My current plan is to print off the ACOG's recommendation for all women who have had a preemie to do the 17P shots and ask what the reason is, then, for not doing them. I'm OK if we decide they aren't necessary, I just want to know they have been considered. I'm also going to ask for some sort of set schedule for BPPs/NSTs because just getting them "whenever I'm feeling nervous" just makes me more anxious - I want to feel like there's some science behind this, not just my nerves. If I'm not feeling better about it after the next appt, I'm going to look into switching to an OB again.

We also couldn't hear the heartbeat at the appt, so they let me go in yesterday for a quick ultrasound. It KILLED my C-section scar, but we got to see the baby and he/she looks great! Moving all around and getting bigger :) We're officially "out" on FB now!

  • We're also unsure about the p17 shots.  My OB wants to wait and discuss after my 20 week appt.  He seems to think I might not need them, but I figure there's no harm in doing them just in case.  So I guess we'll cross that bridge when we get there.  And then I guess we'll also discuss the need for additional monitoring and/or testing.  I'd just rather be safe than sorry, even if it means more trips to the OB and more money out of pocket.  Still better than the alternative...

I'm officially "out" now everywhere too!  I told work last week, and it went well.  DS wore his big brother shirt to daycare today, which I know they'll all be excited about.  So that's pretty much everyone.  Otherwise things are going great.  Even though we didn't get to hear the h/b at my last appt and we didn't have an u/s done at the time, I'm feeling pretty confident that everything is ok and don't mind that I don't go back for another 4 weeks.

Not much to report here. I had a *minor* freakout this weekend when I couldn't feel the baby for 24hrs. I was oot and didn't have my doppler and spent the entire time convinced the pregnancy was over. But then s/he started moving again and I found the hb on the doppler and all is well :)

    18w, only 22w to go!

  • My last cervical length check went perfect.  Cervix is still unchanged, and I've been released back to my OB.  Guess I won't get to see this little one again until he/she makes her appearance.  :(  But, I'm glad I won't have to make trips to the hospital every other week anymore.  It gets to be a bit much when you've got a toddler at home.  I'm still going strong with the shots, and I haven't had any side effects whatsoever.  Only 11 more to go...  Hubby is getting my craft room/office together and as soon as that is finished, we'll be painting and making DS's big boy room for him to move into.  Once that is finished, the new baby's room will be a blank slate.  We're not going to decorate the nursery until the baby arrives, since we're Team Green.  If this baby is a boy, we've got all kinds of boy stuff...if it's a girl we've got a shopping trip in our future.  :)  I've got an OB appointment tomorrow night and I'm not expecting anything eventful...just a script for my GTT test.  ...the next hurdle...
  • Wow.  You guys are all just plugging along :+)

  • Hi!  I'd like to join your group.  Our DD was born at 33w3d due to PROM.  We are thinking about TTC this summer...

I am grappling with a lot of fear and anxiety.  I am a planner and not knowing what will happen with pregnancy #2 really scares me.
