My son is really getting confident in reading and is enjoying it more. We've found the Captain Underpants series but I'd rather not buy him those. I don't like that it encourages him to use certain words that we already get on to him for using...
What's a fun to read series or even just a long book for a young kiddo like him? He's just now moved to Level 2 reading in school. I'll help him read so as long as the book is where he can still read along and not impossible for him to read it'll work great for him/us.
Thanks ladies!
Re: Book recommendation for 7 year old boy
My DS is really into the children's adaptations of things like Call of the Wild, Moby ***, etc.
He's in the middle of Frankenstein right now, and loves it. He likes that they are "grown up" stories, but adapted to words he can understand easily. Perhaps maybe try one of those?
He's also a big fan of any story about superheroes.
ETA: I LOL'ed at the fact they bleeped out the second word in the title of a classic book. Too funny!
My son is 6 1/2, and he loves the Bad Kitty series. They're kind of edgy and funny, with lots of silly pictures, like Captain U, but without the potty humor. They're a little "sweeter" than Captain U.
My guy can easily read well enough for Magic Tree House, Junie B., and Ready Freddy, but feels intimidated by the amount of words on the page. The Bad Kitty series actually has more challenging text, but has enough pictures to trick him into feeling like it's an "easy" book!
