I have an honest question...If you do CD for your LO, do you do something similar for yourself when you are on your period? How does that work? Just curious
We CD our DD and plan to use her "old" diapers for the new baby. I've looked into the diva cup and re-usable pads for myself. There's only one problem with the pads, they are PRICEY to start and in the last 2 yrs I've only had the 4 weeks of bleeding/spotting after having her and nothing since... so financially I don't feel like it's worth it for me at this point. I'm scared of the diva cup post baby because I don't want to be "fishing" around to put something in and take it out when I just gave birth, although I've heard of people who use it without issues. I think after I'm done having kids then I'll plan to use the diva cup. I was shocked to find out pads were about $5-8 each, I'd need at least 10 of them post partum and thats on the low end.
I've used the diva cup for about a year now and LOVE it!!! I was a little leary at first too, but I urge you to try it! I had a UTI one month and I still couldn't not use the cup! (I know, I know, that's bad!) I feel SOOO much cleaner with it in and you don't have to worry about the odor or anything! Best investment ever! Way more comfortable than pads or tampons!
If you do bleed really heavy like me, you may need to wear a pantyliner for those days because I did leak a little in the middle of the night a couple times, but this happens way more often with pads and tampons!
If you really wanted to try pads then I would make my own. Since it sounds like they can be really pricey. Otherwise, the diva cup is next on my list to purchase.
I used the Diva cup before I got pregnant. We used to live in a place where the sink was arms reach from the toilet so I could clean up properly. We've moved since then so I've been using disposable pads and tampons for the 3 PP periods I've had since I'm nervous about the mess.
I have a lady cup and cloth pads I found patterns online to make the pads and LOVE them although I have only used them two months. They are great but I couldn't justify buying them they are pricy but I spent about $4 to make enough for the whole cycle about 20 pads

Re: If you are a CD momma- honest question
Totally NOT Messy, I'd say it is no messier than tampons especially once you get the hang of it

We CD, but I don't use reusable pads. (I did make a bunch for an aid package to Africa.)
I was thinking of using the Diva cup. Everyone I know who uses it, loves it.
I use all natural cotton tampons. I have only really had 1 PP AF. I think when I get more regular, I will switch to the Diva Cup.
